Admission Process

The Local Authority (LA) sets a planned admission level for the school which is currently ten pupils per annum. The Governors and Headteacher closely monitor the number of children within the school, to ensure that each child continues to be provided with the best quality of education. The factors that affect the number on the roll will change over time but we aim to keep whole school numbers around 70.

The Gloucestershire Local Authority co-ordinates the admission arrangements for each new Reception cohort. A link to the GCC website section for admission can be viewed here.

If you wish to apply for a place during the school year, this is know as an In-Year Admission. Although GCC is the admission authority, In-Year Applications must be made directly to the school using the Gloucestershire County Council In-Year Application Form: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions/applying-for-a-school-place-during-the-school-year/. Paper copies can be provided on request.

Completed forms should be emailed directly to the school at admin@coberley.gloucs.sch.uk

We aim to respond to all In-Year applications within 10 school days. If your application is successful, you will receive a written offer from the school. The letter will include:

  • confirmation of the place offered
  • the date by which you must accept or decline the offer
  • any next steps required (such as completing admission forms or arranging a start date).

Please ensure you respond within the stated timeframe so that the place can be secured. If we do not hear from you, the offer may be withdrawn i nline with the Schools Admissions Code.

If we are unable to offer a place, you will receive a written refusal explaining the reason(s) why. If your child is refused a place, you have the legal right to appeal the decision to an Independent Appeals Panel.

Parents moving into the district or considering sending their child to the school are most welcome to visit the school and are invited to contact the Headteacher to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Dedicated free school transport runs through the catchment villages for all eligible children. You can apply for school transport via the Mainsteam School Transport Team at Shire Hall.
