SIAMS - Good OFSTED - Good
Ofsted Report, November 2023
Pupils thrive at Coberley. They are proud of their school and its inclusivity. Pupils feel safe. Strong relationships mean pupils feel confident to share any worries. Pupils know the school’s values well and demonstrate these in their interactions. They are particularly devoted to showing kindness. This is exemplified by Year 6 ‘buddies’ helping Reception children at lunchtime.
The school aspires for every child to do their best. Staff have high expectations of all pupils. Consequently, pupils behave well and they have positive attitudes towards their learning. The youngest children settle quickly in the early years.

Our Performance
In July 2022, Coberley secured 85% expected standard in reading, writing and maths. 60% Children also achieved greater depth in reading and 100% expected standard in writing. Phonics and Key Stage 1 data continued to shine and we secured places at Pates, Kings, Marling, Kingshill, Balcarras, Deer Park and the new High School, Leckhampton.
In July 2020 and 2021, there was no published assessment data. This did not prevent us from making rapid progress during lockdown with our online provision and innovative apoproach. Using small breakout online groups all oiur children in Year R and Year 1 passed a mock phonics test on return and children in Year 1 to Year 6 made a quick return to their previous levels with a huge focus on well being, drama and music. We continued to gain places at Pates and other amazing local school in addition to the independent sector.
In July 2019 we secured 3 grammar school place, 1 independent school places and 6 manintained school places. 80% achieved EXS for Reading, Writing and Maths and 50% achieved GDS in RWM. 80% achieved GDS in Reading and 70% in Maths. These results placed Coberley 1st in Gloucestershire for children achieving GDS and 10th in the UK (20,200 schools).
In July 2018 we secured 1 grammar school place (from 1 entry), 3 independent school places (including 1 scholarship) and 5 manintained school places. All the children passed Reading and most children passsed writing and maths, which was really impressive with a high proportion of children with SEN. Please see the reports below.
In July 2017 we secured 3 grammar school places. All 7 children reached the expected standard and three children achieved greater depth in all subjects. The average score was 110. We also achieved positive progress in reading, writing and maths. This placed us first equal in the county for attainment.
In July 2016 all 8 children who sat the 11+ examinations passed to grammar school. Our latest SATs results placed us second in Gloucestershire and 254th in the UK.
We are very proud of our school and its achievements.
