Pastoral Development

As a small village church primary school, our small community, our location and our core values have a huge impact in all that we do. Our vision statement, “Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day” is a key focus to ensure that children are prepared socially, morally, spiritually and culturally for our world and the future society that our children will be entering. Our values of kindness, happiness, perseverance, creativity and community support our approach to developing SMSC within our children.

This policy underpins all that we do pastorally for children and incorporates SMSC, PSHE and all aspects of social development of children within our school, including curricular such as RE and RSE and opportunities to have a voice such as school councils and leadership opportunities; it prepares our children for the world.

All children and staff have the right to feel safe at all times in school. There should be mutual respect between staff and children and between each other. All visitors to the school should feel safe and free from the effects of poor behaviour at all times and in all parts of the school.

"I couldn’t ask for more of a primary school. Outstanding teaching no matter what the obstacles of recent times have presented; caring environment that fosters an excellent moral code in the children. But above all very happy children. As a parent I feel extremely lucky that my children have had Coberley as their school". Parent (2021)

"We’ve had 4 years and 2 kids at Coberley school and it’s been fantastic throughout - with capable and approachable staff, a real family feel and the bonus of being set in the most breathtaking countryside. Kids are really encouraged to stand on their own two feet and we’ve been consistently impressed by assemblies and shows run almost entirely by the children. I think both of my children have benefitted enormously by their approach - they’re confident and enthusiastic about their next stage of education. I would wholeheartedly recommend Coberley to anyone considering primary schooling in the area." Parent 2021
