Christian Vision
"We want our school to be a place where we play, learn and work hard and where we are cared for and looked after" Year 1 child, 2020
First established in 1861, we educate children between the ages of 4 and 11 and currently have 72 children on roll, split into four classes.
Children at Coberley School come from the surrounding parishes of Coberley, Cowley, Colesbourne, Elkstone and Cheltenham, in addition to Charlton Kings, Leckhampton, and other areas of Cheltenham.
With a focus on academic rigour and a rounded approach to personal development all encompassed in the school values and practices that characterise our distinct community. We combine traditional education with cutting-edge digital learning while putting a strong emphasis on physical and mental health.
Coberley school’s vision, “every child, every chance, every day” is steeped in the theological teaching that, “Everyone should be treated equally although we are all different,” (Galatians ch3:28) and that children be given every opportunity with the promise of, “Life in all its fullness.” (John ch10:10). Our school vision is detailed in our new school logo using a spectrum of colours to depict all children as individuals and the huge range of opportunities that they have. The logo is based as a Christian cross in the Cotswolds by Seven Springs: the tall tree is the lime tree within our school.
Community
Our vision is shared amongst our community in the form of 5 important life values. The values are “awarded” each week to children who have demonstrated them, in the form of a soft toy and certificate each week and celebrated in worship. The values are:
-
Kindness (Patch the Puppy)
-
Perseverance (Percy the Monkey)
-
Happiness (Hamish the Hippo)
-
Creativity (Zara the Zebra)
-
Community (Leafy the Hedgehog)
We value every child equally, and as a school, we want to provide every opportunity, whether it be activity, intervention, enrichment, or nurture, every day. We also pride ourselves on inclusivity and respect. We strive to teach children the importance of protected characteristics.
All children and staff have the right to feel safe at all times in school. There should be mutual respect between staff and children and between each other. All visitors to the school should feel safe and free from the effects of poor behaviour at all times and in all parts of the school.
